What has happened to the news media? It's all about $

Almost everyday I hear another news story written to "grab" my attention.  The newswritters either pull at my heartrings, scare me, or attempt to get me angry at someone else's intentions.  But do they give me the facts and let me decide?

No..news outlets serve the purpose of increasing their audience not delivering factual  information.  News is a for profit business.  Profits rise when more people "tune in" to a particluar media outlet.  People will spend more time with an outlet when they are exited.  It doesn't matter if your happy, sad, angry or hopeful as long as you stay with the media outlet they will make more money.

Nothing is wrong with a news organization attempting to make a profit.  Go for it.  Without a profit no one will continue to broadcast news.   It is just upsetting when these for profit business come off as they are serving a higher purpose of telling the truth... BS ... all news organizatoin alter the facts to suit their purposes.  For the most part the media does not care if the complete truth is put out they just want people to watch their presentation of the truth.  If they have to taylor the presentation to match thier target audiences tastes, so be it.  It is with the tayloring of the message I have a problem.

Have you ever noticed how the friends of FOX, CNN and MSNBC has great disdain for the other networks?  They act like their network of choice is pure and upright and the others' are either too watered down or just operated by a bunch of evil morons.   Well, I got news for you... they are all flawed.

I cannot remeber a single time when MSNBC mentioned a Repubilcan and did not impley they were an evil, lying , douche bag bent on destroying people.  While I don't have a perfect memory I can not recall Bill Clinton being mentioned on Fox without some reference to his moral shortcomings?  Neither of these outlets serves the purpose of journalism when they engage in these activites.  After all, a reasonally sane individual must admit that some rebublican ideas are worth consideration and Mr. Clinton did some positive things for the country ( other than feeding the fat girl in the side office)

If you aren't actively engaged when you watch or read the news you are setting yourself up to be misinformed.  As long as we put up with this level of journalism this is as good as journalism will ever be.

Get the facts, baby.  Know your numbers!  Learn before you decide.  This is what this blog is all about.  We do not come in with a preconceived notion , we look for the facts and then decide.
